SPEA and the environment

SPEA and
the environment

SPEA’s Environmental Management System is UNI EN ISO 14001:2015 certified. This guarantees the social and ecological commitment that the Company expresses in planning, implementing and controlling the best possible systems to manage all activities that have an impact on the environment.

SPEA is working in compliance with RoHS II Directive (2011/65/UE), by also monitoring and controlling its suppliers; moreover, all SPEA’s products don’t contain Rare Earth Materials or toxic substances.

Since 2018, SPEA complies with the requirements of the WEEE Directive (2012/19/UE). SPEA has organized a system for appropriate disposal of end-of-life products by joining to an authorized WEEE consortium. The registration number of SPEA in the Italian Register of EEE Producers is IT18080000010580.

The Environmental Management System is integrated into the SPEA Quality Management System. This enables to develop the “continuous improvement” process that is considered to be essential by the international standards as well as company, in order to ensure the total respect for the environment, the full reliability of the products supplied and the satisfaction of each customer.

This is true since the design stage, taking into account the life cycle prospects of our products; starting from the raw materials we will introduce, going through the manufacturing processes that we will adopt, and then influencing the life of our products at the customers’ site until the end of their useful life period.

We will operate under direct or indirect responsibility in accordance with the compliance obligations that SPEA has assumed and assumes with its citizenship duties (in Italy, the European Union and the world) or the commitments made by our representations in institutional offices.

5. Cooperation with the territory

We will organize meetings and guided tours aimed primarily at students of the different school cycles in order to promote the awareness of the company and its activities to the public, aiming to a positive cooperation with the interested parties in the area.

6. Cooperation with the authorities

We will cooperate with the public authority and control bodies, in order to produce a contribution and not impacts for the environment, respecting the social duty that an organization like SPEA can carry out for the benefit of itself, of its contributors and of the environment in which it operates.

7. Environmental performances

For the aforementioned purposes, we will identify, pursue, and accomplish the actions and goals that will improve our environmental performance; we will ensure at least once per year that our efforts lead to achieve these goals.

SPEA and the envitonment - energy efficiency

Energy Efficiency

SPEA is seriously committed to enhancing the energy efficiency of our facilities and is continuing to do so, by identifying improvements and environmental sustainability measures.

Water and energy consumptions are continuously monitored by the Environmental Management System with the aim of reducing waste and optimizing consumptions.

SPEA is constantly training its staff on new applicable environmental regulations and on the correct practices for reducing the energy consumption.

Staff trainings on environmental sustainability have also brought to the decrease of water consumption per capita.

Waste Management

From 2009 and onwards, the proportion of recycled waste has more than doubled. This is due to numerous activities undertaken to educate the staff, together with the selection of eco-friendly materials.

Great attention is paid to the disposal of dangerous substances and to correct separation of mixed packaging. We have also eliminated any toxic substance: none of our products contains lead, Rare Earth Materials, PVC, deca BDE, mercury or arsenic.

Emissions

In the last biennium, SPEA’s investments to decrease emissions have been remarkable.

The transition to latest-generation natural gas heating systems has resulted in a reduction of emissions by about 30%, with considerable economic savings.

Furthermore, the fleet of cars has been involved in this important ecological operation.

SPEA and the environment - paper consumption

Paper consumption

You get the best results from the details. In SPEA each printer is programmed to print rear/front in economic mode.

A simple trick that allows SPEA save tons of paper each year and hundreds of ink cartridges.
