Melexis and SPEA: partners for new-generation test equipment
The global chip manufacturer Melexis is responding to the strong growth in demand for semiconductor components – especially from the automotive industry – with a million-euro investment for their plant in Erfurt, Germany, as it was announced by the TV channel MDR Thüringen.
As part of the project, the company has planned to install nine new test systems from SPEA, and two packaging machines, by this year. The test equipment will significantly enhance the quality control of the finished chips.
The first test equipment arrived from Italy on Monday. The next should come in June. Each of these new systems will replace up to six conventional ones.
