SPEA T300 wins 2022 NPI Award for ICT Test & Inspection category

SPEA, a global leader in test equipment for electronics, has been acknowledged with a 2022 New Product Introduction (NPI) Award in the category of “Test and Inspection – ICT”, with its latest T300 ICT tester.

During the award announcement ceremony on February 24th, SPEA’s solution emerged as a clear winner, because of its unprecedented and unique architecture that embeds multi-tester and multi-core capabilities in one compact, fully automatic test system.

T300 features eight embedded testers, fully independent and configurable to reach the maximum throughput and test parallelism. The system can test up to 32 PCBAs in parallel, flashing up to 256 devices simultaneously. That means a substantial reduction of testing time and cost, if compared to the existing solutions. T300 was recognized for its innovative technology and outstanding performance in offering unprecedented parallel test capability, throughput, analog and digital performance.

“Receiving this award and being recognized as an innovator by the industry is gratifying”, proudly states Luciano Bonaria, Founder and President of SPEA. “This honour just serves to further illustrate SPEA’s commitment to innovation and development of test equipment that are able to detect the smallest defects in PCBAs and ICs, enabling electronics manufacturers to market defect-free, reliable products. Our systems are designed to guarantee the best quality and reliability, but also to offer the highest possible throughput. This is an essential condition to lower the cost of test, minimising its impact on the final product price”.

T300 ensures full test coverage by providing different test techniques (e.g. ICT, Digital & Analog Functional Tests, Flashing, Power Test, etc.). Among them, SPEA’s unique ICT-Plus test technique stands out for its capability to detect many defects in electronics that are not detectable with traditional ICT testing.

In compliance with I4.0 and IoT standards, T300 provides humanless and connected operation: It offers several Automatic Loading Modes from SMT line, Conveyor, and Magazine Loader; system monitoring smart sensors; and advanced tools for machine optimization, diagnostics and predictive maintenance.

“This system addresses a wide range of electronic products, and especially those which are produced in huge volumes“ says Bonaria in conclusion. “The entire SPEA team is grateful that the NPI judging panel has recognized the tester’s innovation significance and awarded it consequently. We are especially proud to receive this acknowledgment in the USA, the most important arena for technology innovation since the origins of electronics history”.

Introduced in 2008, the NPI Awards program is an annual celebration of product excellence in electronics surface mount assembly. Hosted by Circuits Assembly magazine, it recognizes leading new products during the last 12 months.

Premier products based on the finest examples of creative advancement in technology are chosen by a distinguished panel of industry experts, using very stringent criteria that assess innovation, compatibility, cost-effectiveness, design, speed/throughput improvements, ease of use, and maintainability.
